Chat Behavioral Health Services - Starting today, residents can access behavioral health services from their computer, phone or tablet using the Penn State Health OnDemand app.

"We originally offered this service to staff and faculty at Penn State and the Penn State College of Medicine," said Chris LaCoe, vice president of clinical services at Penn State Health. "It's been so popular and useful that we see the value in bringing it to everyone in our community at a time of greatest need."

Patients using both services will receive an individualized treatment plan. The provider may request visits and/or medications. Only psychiatrists can prescribe medication and cannot prescribe things that are controlled by a visit.

Virtual visits are safe and compliant with health insurance policies and patient privacy laws. Lessons are not written. Patients have the option to share course notes with their primary care providers through the service and can also request copies of their notes.

To schedule an appointment, patients must download the free Penn Health OnDemand app, create an account and enter their insurance information. Patients should check their insurance plan to understand the costs they can afford. Anyone who needs help setting up their account should call the healthcare team at 1-833-774-3627.
